Sport Chiropractic in Port Moody

All ages and levels of athletes are welcome at Una Vita Chiropractic, and we treat all kinds of sport injuries.  We all know that being active is great for our health, but it doesn’t come without its cost.  Physical stress can damage your body.  When deep enough, this damage can permanently change the behaviour of your body, causing muscle tightness, posture problems, strength and coordination changes, and less ability to adapt and heal.

This damage reduces performance, and it is the underlying reason your chronic problems can no longer heal the way nature intened.   These problems gradually worsen over months, years, and decades, eventually becoming irreversible.  Athletes too often try to treat it themselves, with random stretching or exericse.  The truth is that you are unlikely to fix these problems unless you have an expert that can help you hands-on.

What is Sport Chiropractic?

That is where we come in.  At Una Vita we use the latest sport chiropractic techniques, to help with many common sport injuries.   Also, like many family chiropractors, we provide true chiropractic subluxation correction for performance and health.  What makes Una Vita unique is that we use both of these types of care together.

Many of the techniques we use are popular with professional sports teams, such as Active Release Techniqes, Graston Technique, and class 4 laser therapy, just to name a few.   Unlike most sport chiropractic offices, we also promise to provide you with recommendations for ongoing spinal care to improve posture, have full strength and coordination, and protect yourself from future injuries.

An International Certified Sport Chiropractor is more than a DC.

An International Certified Chiropractic Sport Physician (ICCSP) is an internationally recognized post-graduate diplomate in sport chiropractic.  An ICCSP receives expert-level knowledge in the field of sports medicine.

Many sport chiropractors are trained in Active Release Techniques (ART).  This is a state of the art soft-tissue system that is renowned worldwide, especially among triathletes, marathon runners and professional athletes.   Practitioners who are certified in ART receive extensive additional training in anatomy, as well as hundreds of specific protocols to improve the texture and movement of any muscle or joint in the body.  Results are often instant, and when properly performed, ART does not hurt at all, and is less painful than a sport massage.

Graston Technique (GT) is an instrument assisted soft-tissue technique where specially designed instruments are used to maintain texture and movement.  Like ART, when properly performed, GT is not painful and does not create any marks on the body.

Children require care that is different from adults.  That is why it is beneficial to have a chiropractor Certified by the Academy of the College of Chiropractic Pediatrics (CACCP).  These chiropractors receive hundreds of hours of training to provide gentle care for children to prevent injury and optimize the function of the nervous system.  These same techniques can be used on adults.
